PRACTICAL TESTING RESOURCES

Guides & Tools

Practical guides, checklists, and curated references for software testing and AI-assisted testing.

Start with a guide, adapt it to your context, and review the result before using it in your work.

Prepare an AI-Assisted Testing Request

Structure your prompt for better AI-generated outputs.

Review AI-Generated Test Cases

Evaluate and validate what AI produces before using it.

Report a Testing Finding Clearly

Communicate defects and observations with precision.

Prepare an effective AI-assisted testing request

Give the tool enough context to produce something you can review.

Context

What feature are you testing, and what reliable information do you have?

Task

What outcome do you need: questions, risks, test ideas, analysis, or a draft?

Constraints

What is out of scope? Which facts are unknown? What must the tool avoid assuming?

Output format

What structure would make the response easier to inspect and use?

Review

Ask the tool to separate supplied facts, assumptions, and unanswered questions.

Review AI-generated test cases

AI-generated test cases are drafts. Review them before they become testing decisions.

Relevance

Does each case address the feature and risks that matter?

Evidence

Is the expected result supported by a requirement or credible source?

Coverage

Which conditions, boundaries, or failure paths are missing?

Clarity

Could another tester understand the setup, action, and observation?

Assumptions

What must be clarified before the case can be used?

An AI tool may invent a lockout rule for a login feature. Record it as an unanswered question until you have evidence for the expected behavior.

Report a testing finding clearly

Use this structure to prepare a clear bug report, testing note, or team conversation.

Context

Where did you observe the behavior?

Expected behavior

What did you expect, and what supports that expectation?

Observed behavior

What happened? Include evidence and the conditions needed to reproduce it.

Impact

Who or what could be affected? Separate known effects from possible risks.

Next step

What investigation, clarification, or decision would help?

For variable AI behavior, also record the input, the settings or version information you can access, and what happened across repeated attempts.
